Scientech Terms of Service | Scientech Career Systems™
Effective Date: 23-Nov-2018
Last Updated: 6-Oct-2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) outline the expectations and guarantees that all clients (hereby referred to as “Client” or “you”) must agree to follow when engaging with Scientech Resumes LLC (known hereafter as “Scientech” or “we”).
These Terms, together with the information provided on Scientech’s website and the Client’s proposal, invoice, or other written description of the scope of services (collectively, the “Proposal”), describe the terms of your engagement. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Proposal, the Proposal will control with respect to the specific services, deliverables, pricing, and timeline for your engagement. These terms remain in effect throughout the Client’s engagement with Scientech.
Failure to read the Terms in their entirety does not authorize a waiver or alteration of these Terms or their application.
1. Services & Engagement Scope
Scientech provides strategic career marketing, coaching, and job-search services for professionals in STEM and technically adjacent fields, as well as professional training and advisory services to companies working with technical talent.
Depending on the service or package selected, services may include:
Specific services, deliverables, sessions, and timelines included in the Client's engagement will be identified in the Proposal.
References in these Terms to a "project," "engagement," or "services" refer to the services purchased by the Client as described in the applicable Proposal.
1.1 Scientech Career System™
When applicable, services may be provided through the Scientech Career System™, which connects three (3) stages of the job-search process:
Each stage may be purchased independently or as part of a larger engagement. An upgrade, add-on, or subsequent stage may be treated as a separate service with its own scope, timeline, and payment terms as described in the applicable Proposal.
2. Discovery & Project Acceptance
Scientech requires an initial career discovery consultation before onboarding a new Client.
The purpose of the consultation is to understand the Client's goals, circumstances, desired direction, and service needs and to determine whether Scientech's services are an appropriate fit.
A consultation does not create an obligation for either party to enter into an engagement.
Scientech reserves the right to decline an engagement when the requested services, timeline, expectations, or circumstances are not an appropriate fit for Scientech.
3. Beginning an Engagement
An engagement begins when
- The Client has accepted the applicable Proposal or service agreement;
- The Client has agreed to these Terms; and
- Any required initial payment (full or partial) has been successfully processed.
For project-based services, Scientech may reserve a project or scheduling window only after the required agreement and payment have been received.
A payment plan does not change the Client's total financial obligation under the Proposal.
4. Client Responsibilities
Scientech's work is collaborative and depends on the Client's participation.
The Client agrees to:
Scientech may rely on information provided by the Client and is not responsible for inaccuracies, omissions, exaggerations, or misrepresentations supplied by the Client.
The Client is responsible for ensuring that all information included in career documents is truthful and can be supported if requested by an employer, recruiter, licensing body, or other third party.
5. Career Intelligence & Strategy
For engagements that include career intelligence gathering, positioning, or document development, Scientech may use questionnaires, interviews, strategy sessions, existing career documents, performance information, job descriptions, and other materials supplied by the Client.
The specific information-gathering process will depend on the service purchased.
If a Client fails to provide required information within the stated timeline, the project may be delayed. Scientech may also charge additional fees when substantial additional consultation, research, writing, or project-management time is required because information was incomplete, substantially delayed, or changed after work began.
Where applicable, additional work will be quoted or billed at the rate specified in the Proposal or Scientech's then-current additional-services rate.
6. Deliverables & Turnaround Time
Deliverables are limited to those specifically identified in the applicable Proposal.
For writing projects, Scientech will provide an estimated delivery timeline after the required intake and strategy process has been completed.
Unless a different timeline is stated in the Proposal, standard writing turnaround is generally 7-10 business days, excluding weekends and holidays.
Turnaround times may be extended when:
An estimated delivery date is not a guarantee unless expressly identified as a guaranteed deadline in writing.
7. Revisions & Client Approval
Writing and document-development services include the revision opportunities specified in the Proposal. Revisions are intended to refine the agreed-upon strategy, content, positioning, and presentation. They do not automatically include substantial changes to the original scope.
A revision may be treated as additional work when the Client:
Additional work will be quoted or billed separately.
7.1 Review Period
The Client must review delivered documents and provide requested revisions within the review period stated in the Proposal or, if no period is specified, within 10 business days.
If the Client does not provide required feedback, attend a required revision session, or otherwise participate in the revision process within the applicable period, Scientech may consider the deliverables accepted and close the engagement.
Once an engagement has been closed, additional work may be subject to a new service fee.
8. Additional Services & Scope Changes
Services outside the original Proposal are not included unless expressly added in writing.
Examples include:
Scientech will communicate the applicable additional fee before beginning substantial out-of-scope work whenever reasonably possible.
9. Project Delays, Pauses & Reactivations
Client deadlines are an important part of maintaining the agreed project timeline.
If a Client pauses or delays an engagement, the project may be removed from Scientech's active project schedule.
If an engagement remains inactive for more than 30 days, Scientech may require a restart or reactivation fee before work resumes. The fee may reflect the additional time required to review the Client's information, documents, strategy, and project status.
If a project remains inactive for an extended period, Scientech may require a new Proposal based on current pricing and availability.
Projects that remain inactive for six (6) months or more may be considered abandoned and may be closed.
10. Coaching & Consulting Services
Scientech's coaching and consulting services are designed to provide education, strategy, guidance, preparation, and accountability.
Coaching does not create an employment relationship, recruiting relationship, fiduciary relationship, or guarantee of a particular career outcome.
Unless otherwise stated in the Proposal, coaching sessions must be scheduled within two (2) months or the timeframe specified for the applicable coaching package.
Unused or expired sessions are not refundable.
If a Client purchases a coaching package but does not begin the package within the applicable start period, Scientech may consider the package expired.
11. Scheduling, Cancellations & No-Shows
11.1 Rescheduling
Clients should provide advance notice when they need to reschedule.
A Client may reschedule a meeting once without an additional fee when the change results from a sudden emergency or unforeseen circumstance outside the Client's reasonable control.
Repeated or short-notice cancellations may result in a cancellation fee of $197 or loss of the scheduled session.
11.2 Late Cancellation
For scheduled sessions other than qualifying emergencies, Scientech requests at least 24 hours' advance notice.
A late-cancellation fee of $197 may apply when a Client cancels within 24 hours of a scheduled appointment.
11.3 No-Show
If a Client misses a scheduled session without providing at least 24 hours' notice, Scientech may charge a $197 no-show fee.
The Client must pay the applicable fee before another appointment is scheduled.
11.4 Late Arrival
If a Client arrives more than 15 minutes late without notice, Scientech may treat the appointment as a no-show.
The session will not be extended because of a Client's late arrival.
12. Rush Services
Rush services may be available depending on Scientech's schedule.
Unless otherwise stated in the Proposal:
Rush availability is not guaranteed and must be confirmed by Scientech before payment.
Rush fees may be cumulative when a Client requests both weekend work and rush service.
13. Fees & Payment
Scientech may accept payment through third-party processors, which may include Dubsado, Stripe, PayPal, or other providers made available by Scientech.
Available payment options may include:
Pay in Full
When offered, Clients who pay the full investment upfront may receive a 5% pay-in-full discount, as specified in the Proposal.
Payment Plan
When offered, a payment plan may require an initial payment followed by one or more scheduled payments.
For a 50/50 payment plan, 50% is due to initiate the engagement and the remaining 50% is due approximately 30 days later, unless otherwise stated in the Proposal.
The Client remains responsible for the full contracted investment regardless of whether the Client's use of the services changes after the engagement begins.
Scientech may suspend work or withhold deliverables when a required payment is overdue.
14. Cancellation & Refunds
Because Scientech's services involve reserved time, professional expertise, research, preparation, strategy, and customized work, payments are subject to the following cancellation terms.
Before Work Begins
If the Client cancels after payment but before Scientech has begun work, Scientech may issue a refund less:
After Work Begins But Before Initial Deliverables
If work has begun but Scientech has not yet delivered the initial draft or primary deliverables, Scientech may retain 50% of the total project investment, in addition to applicable transaction fees.
After Initial Deliverables Are Delivered
Once initial deliverables have been provided, the Client is responsible for 100% of the project investment.
Client Dissatisfaction
Scientech will make a good-faith effort to address legitimate concerns and correct errors attributable to Scientech within the applicable revision process.
Dissatisfaction with the outcome, a change in career plans, a change in target position, failure to use the deliverables, failure to obtain interviews or employment, or a Client's decision not to continue with the job search does not automatically create a right to a refund.
15. No Employment or Career Outcome Guarantee
Scientech provides strategy, education, coaching, career marketing, and advisory services. Scientech does not guarantee interviews, job offers, employment, promotions, compensation increases, recruiter responses, or any other specific career outcome.
Career outcomes depend on factors outside Scientech's control, including employer decisions, market conditions, competition, qualifications, timing, Client participation, networking, application activity, interview performance, compensation budgets, organizational changes, and whether an employer ultimately fills a position.
Scientech does not guarantee that a particular resume, LinkedIn profile, networking strategy, application, or other career marketing material will produce a particular result.
16. Client Responsibility for Career Decisions
Scientech provides professional guidance and recommendations based on the information available at the time of service.
The Client remains responsible for deciding:
Scientech does not provide legal, tax, financial, immigration, medical, or other professional advice outside the scope of its career services.
Clients should consult an appropriately licensed professional when such advice is required.
17. Confidentiality
Scientech treats Client information as confidential and uses Client information primarily to provide the contracted services within the scope of the engagement.
Scientech will never sell Client information or intentionally disclose Client information for unrelated commercial purposes.
However, Scientech may use third-party service providers and technology platforms necessary to operate the business and provide services, including payment processing, scheduling, document storage, communications, analytics, editing, research, and related functions. Such providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.
Scientech's collection and handling of personal information are also governed by its Privacy & Cookie Policy, as applicable.
18. Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Technology-Assisted Tools
Scientech may use technology-assisted or AI-enabled tools for limited business and service functions, which may include job-target analysis, market research, or other workflow functions.
AI is not used to write, generate, or replace the professional judgment and experience involved in creating Client documents or other client-facing deliverables. Client materials are developed by Scientech based on the Client's individual background, goals, experience, and target opportunities.
19. Intellectual Property
Scientech retains ownership of its proprietary frameworks, methodologies, templates, worksheets, training materials, educational resources, systems, processes, written instructional content, website content, and other materials developed by Scientech.
This includes proprietary materials associated with the Scientech Career System™ and related Scientech frameworks. The Client receives a limited, non-exclusive right to use materials provided specifically for the Client's personal career development.
The Client may not:
The Client retains the right to use completed personal career documents created specifically for the Client for the Client's own career purposes.
20. Client Documents & Work Samples
Scientech may retain copies of Client documents and project records for administrative, service, and recordkeeping purposes.
Unless otherwise agreed, Scientech may retain completed project files and communications in accordance with its document-retention practices and Privacy Policy.
Scientech will not publicly display Client resumes, career information, or identifying personal information as marketing examples without appropriate permission.
21. Email Support & Follow-Up
When included with a service or offered as a Client benefit, email support is intended for reasonable job-search and career-related questions.
Email support does not include unlimited consulting, document rewriting, resume updates, or additional strategy work.
Scientech generally responds within 1–2 business days, although response times may be longer during periods of high demand, holidays, illness, or other circumstances outside Scientech's reasonable control.
A post-engagement check-in, when included, is a support benefit and does not reopen or extend the original project scope.
22. Errors & Accuracy
Scientech makes reasonable efforts to proofread and review deliverables before delivery.
The Client is responsible for reviewing all deliverables before submitting, publishing, or otherwise using them.
The Client should promptly notify Scientech of factual errors or omissions identified during the applicable revision period.
Scientech is not responsible for errors that result from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by the Client or from changes made by the Client after final delivery.
23. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Scientech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to the services.
Scientech is not responsible for decisions made by employers, recruiters, clients, hiring managers, or other third parties.
Scientech's total liability arising from an engagement will not exceed the amount actually paid by the Client for the specific services giving rise to the claim, except where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
24. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement when permitted under these Terms or the applicable Proposal.
Scientech may terminate an engagement when:
Termination does not eliminate the Client's obligation to pay amounts already earned or otherwise owed under these Terms.
25. Force Majeure
Neither party will be responsible for delay or failure to perform an obligation, other than payment obligations, when the delay results from circumstances beyond that party's reasonable control.
Such circumstances may include natural disasters, severe weather, illness, public emergencies, governmental actions, interruptions to utilities or technology services, labor disruptions, war, civil unrest, or other events that materially prevent performance.
The affected party will make reasonable efforts to resume performance when circumstances permit.
26. Changes to These Terms
Scientech may update these Terms from time to time.
The Terms in effect when the Client enters into an engagement will generally govern that engagement unless the parties agree otherwise in writing.
A new engagement, upgrade, or subsequent purchase may be subject to the Terms then in effect.
27. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any legal action arising from these Terms or the services will be subject to the applicable jurisdiction and venue requirements of Oregon law.
Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from exercising any rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
28. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the applicable Proposal and any other written agreement expressly incorporated into the engagement, constitute the agreement between Scientech and the Client regarding the services purchased.
They supersede prior discussions or representations concerning the same services, except where expressly incorporated in writing.
If a provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.
29. Electronic Agreement
The Client's electronic signature, acceptance of the Proposal, payment, or other affirmative acceptance of the services constitutes agreement to these Terms.
The Client acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to review these Terms before purchasing services.
